MINOS-EURONET scientific and brokerage event: Bucharest, 23-25 May 2007
Scientific workshop: “Microsystems as a platform for integrating micro/nano/biotechnologies”
Info- and brokerage event: “Micro- and nanosystems call in FP7/2007”
Web site: www.minos-euro.net
Contact e-mail: minos@nano-link.net
CONTENT
The event will have the following structure:
The info-day part will be related to the call ICT-2007.3.6: Micro/nanosystems (and possibly to ICT-2007.3.5: Photonic components and subsystems). The talks will be given by representatives of the European Commission, European Technological Platforms, and other specialists. This info-part will be concentrated preferably on 23rd of May, 2007.
The scientific part will be focused on the topic “Micro/nano/biotechnologies convergence”, as described by the ICT-2007.3.6 call mentioned above, namely: “Converging micro/nano, bio and information technologies for the development and production of integrated systems for specific applications, such as environmental monitoring, agriculture and food quality management, safety, security, biomedical and lifestyle applications. Innovative bioMEMS, biosensors, lab-on-chip microsystems and autonomous implants and bio-robots. Research will also address packaging, multilevel interfacing, manufacturing …..” However, other topics related to the call will be not excluded, especially in the poster section. Special sessions are envisaged on topics such as: Microarrays; Lab-on-chip; Biosensors.
The oral (plenary) sessions will consist mainly invited papers. The usual format will consist in a 20 minutes oral presentation followed by 10 minutes discussion (see address).
Posters will be selected based upon a short abstract uploaded on the above site until 4th of May, 2007 (see address). The result of selection will be available until 8th of May and the authors will have one week to prepare the poster and upload it on the same site (see address). The execution of the posters may be sponsored by MINOS-EURONET and ROMNET-ERA European projects, especially for participants from new member states (NMS). The authors will find their poster displayed at proper time in the conference room.
The brokerage part will be preceded and followed by on-line brokerage (www.minos-euro.net/brokerage) and will complement the scientific part. Sessions of brief oral presentations may be organized. A special section will be devoted to posters displaying profiles/offers of cooperation or expressions of interest. The participants will have room for organising discussions close to their posters. The previous MINOS info- and brokerage event in Bucharest, 22-23 March 2007, was quite successful and provided information also available on the above site.
SCOPE
The event can be considered a follow–up of the concertation meetings organized by the European Commission on 18-19 January and 19-20 March 2007, respectively. As envisaged by the Commission, the consortia represented at the concertation meetings can organize their own special events for exchanging their scientific results, in particular as part of the preparation for participation to specific calls in FP7.
On the other hand, the scientific part, basically focused on “convergent technologies” will be combined with an appropriate brokerage event specifically devoted to the “micro- and nanosystems” call in FP7 (to be launched approximately mid May 2007). The rationale of this interaction is: a) the scientific output of FP6 could be a promising start for a proposal in FP7; b) some researchers and companies attending the scientific event may also display their profile/expressions of interest and participate to the brokerage part as well.
REGISTRATION. The participation is free of charge (sponsored by European projects). Registered participants have access to all sessions, coffee and lunch breaks.
SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS. PUBLICATION.
The abstracts of the scientific contributions will be uploaded on the site of the event. Poster presentations will be selected for participation (see above) and some of them may be recommended for (short) oral presentation.
A selection of scientific contributions will be adapted for publication in a special volume in the “Micro- and nanoengineering” series (Publishing House of the Romanian Academy).
VENUE.
The event will be hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bucharest, and ideal place for combined oral and poster presentations (see the previous event).
ACCOMODATION. LOCAL TRANSPORTATION.
Information about accommodation and local transportation is provided on the web. The local organisers will provide assistance.
