Nanoscale II

International conference 13th - 15th October 2004
Europole Congress Centre Grenoble, France

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The theme of the conference is "Exploring nanostructure imaging, characterization and modification using SPM and related techniques".  Professor C. Gerber, IBM, Zürich, will be presenting the Keynote Speech at the second of the "Seeing at the Nanoscale" conferences and the goal is to have "scientists speak to scientists" on a wide variety of cutting-edge nanotechnology topics. The conference will include two and a half days of technical presentations, a Medieval banquet (where two awards will be announced) on the 14th of October and an extensive poster session. Attendees will have plenty of opportunity to meet and discuss their work informally with colleagues from all over Europe.

Minatec , Nano2Life, Phantoms and Veeco Instruments are pleased to sponsor the second in the series Seeing at the Nanoscale, an international conference dedicated to imaging techniques at the nanoscale.

Minatec, a talent pool dedicated to science, advanced technology and hightech industry, is one of the leading European poles for innovation in micro and nanotechnology, a high concentration of skills and resources located in Grenoble.

Nano2Life is the first European Network of Excellence on nanobiotech initiated by 23 research organisations and centres, which have experience in initiating nanobiotech projects or programmes. 170 scientists from 12 countries are integrated under this network to implement joint activities at the interface between the "nano" and the "bio" worlds. Nano2Life will set the basis for a virtual European Nanobiotech Institute with strong local establishments.

Phantoms is a network of Excellence, whose mission is to provide a platform of services and information for researchers active in Nanotechnologies directed towards information processing and storage. PHANTOMS has currently around 230 members worldwide and is funded by the European Commission (IST program).

Veeco is a leading provider of Metrology and Process Equipment solutions used by manufacturers in the data storage, semiconductor and telecom/wireless industries. Veeco's Metrology tools are used to measure at the nanoscale, and Process Equipment tools help create nanoscale devices. Veeco's products are also critical enabling instruments used in the advancement of scientific research and nanotechnology.

Location/Accommodation

The conference setting will be the high tech Europole Congress Centre, in Grenoble Europole Grenoble - Centre de Congrès All session will take place in the Auditorium. Accommodation will be available at local hotels. The list of hotels and reservation information will be posted on the Conference Website end February.

Europole Congress Centre is easily accessible by air, TGV and major road networks.

Fee schedule

Pre-registration will be 295€ before 30thJune 2004, and 325€ afterwards. Registration covers conference sessions, printed abstracts and all social events. A registration form will be posted on the Conference Website en February.

Each presentation within the following five sessions will be 15 minutes in length with a five minutes discussion period. In keeping with our policy of a single session, so that everyone has the opportunity to hear all of the oral presentations, roughly 30 abstracts will be selected for contributed talks, with a like number for posters.

Call for abstracts

Deadline for Abstracts submission is 7th July 2004

Notification of acceptance and  presentation/poster date and time is 30th July 2004

Contributed papers will be considered for either oral or poster presentation unless the authors specifically request the poster session.  All abstracts will be reviewed by Technical Committee, and final abstracts will be posted on the Conference website and printed in the Conference Program.

Presenters must register for the conference.

All abstracts must be submitted online at www.veeco.com/nanoconference/papers_abstract.asp
We know this will be a dynamic conference, and we welcome your participation.
