IMT-Bucharest
(National Institute for R&D in Microtechnologies)

IMT is an associate Partner to Nano2Life
Contact: Prof. Dan Dascalu, dascalu@imt.ro, see also www.imt.ro

IMT-Bucharest (National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies), coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, is acting as a hub of national activities in the field of micro and nanotechnologies. This institute is the main actor in microtechnologies in Romania (with microsystems promoted by national programmes since 1993, also including nanotechnologies since 2000).

IMT-Bucharest is now partner in five FP6 successful proposals of networks (Nano to Life not included):
Priority 2, IST: Networks of Excellence PATENT and AMICOM
Priority 3, NMP: Networks of Excellence NANOFUNPOLY and 4M Marie Curie Research & Training Network ASSEMIC

Also, IMT-Bucharest is coordinator of two SSA successful proposals:
ROMNET-ERA which will experiment new tools for knowledge management, also promoting networking in new technologies and their applications to life in Romania;
MINAEST-NET  which is devoted to networking in micro- and nanotechnologies in candidate countries and Eastern Europe.

At the end of 2003, IMT-Bucharest (together with iMediaSoft from Grenoble, France) launched the nanoLINK initiative. NanoLink is a web portal (www.nano-link.net) and a e-newsletter (nanoLINK), but is is also a network (nanoLINKnet): a knowledge network pursuing life quality through technological innovation (LINK = Life quality through Innovation by a Network of Knowledge).
