„Info- and brokerage event in new technologies and materials (FP7/2007: NMP/ICT)”,
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, in Bucharest, 22-23 March 2007
The Info- and brokerage event in new technologies and materials (FP7/2007: NMP/ICT) “Cooperation in industry-oriented research in an enlarged Europe” took place in Bucharest, Romania, at Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, on 22nd and 23rd of March 2007.
The event was focused on selected NMP/ICT topics in the first calls of FP7, related to advanced technologies and materials of interest for a wide range of industries and which also reflect the interest of some European Technological Platforms.
The “info” part of the event allowed the participants to attend presentations of key EC officials: Nicholas Hartley, Acting Director “Industrial technologies”, DG Research, EC; Dirk Beernaert, Head of unit “Nanoelectronics”, DG Information Society and Media, EC; Francisco Ibanez, Deputy head of unit “Micro- and nanosystems”, DG Information Society and Media.
Other presentations of interest were delivered by Sean Neylon, President of NEXUS, Colybris, Neuchatel, Switzerland, Christian Wögerer, Profactor Research and Solutions GmbH, Austria; Alexander Pogany, BMVIT, Austria; Gerald Kern, FFG, Austria; Tim Harper, Cientifica, UK; J.Marczewski, ITE, Poland and representatives of various FP6 projects (NoEs, IPS, CA, Marie Curie RTN, SSA): “NEXUSPLUS”, “NanofunPoly”, “4M”, “AMICOM”, “GOSPEL”, “GOODFOOD”, “IPPMAN”, “ASSEMIC”, “BRIDGE”, “INTEGRAM+”, EURIPIDES - EUREKA Cluster Project.
The European technological platforms ENIAC, Nanomedicine, Manufuture/MINAM were also presented.
The first day was an Info day on NMP, brokerage event on NMP and ICT (FP7/2007), sustained by the MINOS-EURONET and ROMNET-ERA projects and the second day was dedicated to Info- and brokerage event on ICT (FP72007), sustained by MINOS-EURONET and NEXUSPLUS projects.
The event was preceded and followed by on-line brokerage, using the new databases for partner matching corresponding to NMP, ICT or Health priorities (themes) in FP7 (see http://www.nano-link.net/expl.php).
As a result of brokerage activity for this event, the databases for partners matching include more than 170 records.
242 Romanian participants attended the event from 28 National Institutes, 17 universities, 6 Governmental /public institutions 21 companies and 30 Foreign participants from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

Direct contacts were established during the brokerage sessions, important for future collaborations in FP7 project proposals.
22 short oral presentations of expressions of interest for NMP and ICT were delivered.
The participants discussed on certain topics/offers by the 102 posters displaying competences and offers for cooperation in FP7.
With the occasion of the event, Dirk Beernaert/, Head of unit “Nanoelectronics”, DG Information Society and Media/ stated “In the Conference, I have very much appreciated that they (IMT) form a good focal point for the local and for the participants from the NMS. This is very much appreciated.”
