Info- and brokerage event in new technologies and materials (FP7/2007: NMP/ICT): “Cooperation in industry-oriented research in an enlarged Europe”, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, in Bucharest, 22-23 March 2007

The event was focused on selected NMP/ICT topics in the first calls of FP7, related to advanced technologies and materials of interest for a wide range of industries and which also reflect the interest of some European Technological Platforms.

The “info” part of the event allowed the participants to attend presentations of key EC officials: Nicholas Hartley, Acting Director “Industrial technologies”, DG Research, EC; Dirk Beernaert, Head of unit “Nanoelectronics”, DG Information Society and Media, EC; Francisco Ibanez, Deputy head of unit “Micro- and nanosystems”, DG Information Society and Media.
Other presentations of interest were delivered by Sean Neylon, President of NEXUS, Colybris, Neuchatel, Switzerland, Christian Wögerer, Profactor Research and Solutions GmbH, Austria; Alexander Pogany, BMVIT, Austria; Gerald Kern, FFG, Austria; Tim Harper, Cientifica, UK; J.Marczewski, ITE, Poland and representatives of various FP6 projects (NoEs, IPS, CA, Marie Curie RTN, SSA): “NEXUSPLUS”, “NanofunPoly”, “4M”, “AMICOM”, “GOSPEL”, “GOODFOOD”, “IPPMAN”, “ASSEMIC”, “BRIDGE”, “INTEGRAM+”, EURIPIDES - EUREKA Cluster Project. The European technological platforms ENIAC, Nanomedicine, Manufuture/MINAM were also presented.

The brokerage sessions contained 22 short oral presentations and displayed 102 posters presenting competences and offers for cooperation in FP7 (profiles and expressions of interest for NMP and ICT). Direct contacts have been established between participants. Apart from the registered 242 Romanian participants , the event was attended by 30 foreign participants, including 3 representatives of the European Commission and specialists from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom.

  • MINOS-EURONET SCIENTIFIC AND BROKERAGE EVENT: Scientific workshop: “Microsystems as a platform for integrating micro/nano/biotechnologies”, Info- and brokerage event: Micro- and nanosystems call in FP7/2007, Bucharest, Romania, 23-25 May 2007

The event will have the following structure (see www.minos-euro.net):

    • A scientific part focused on the “Micro/nano/biotechnologies convergence” topic of the above call. The oral and poster sessions will alternate. The oral (plenary) sessions will consist of invited papers only. The main suggested topics are: Microarrays; Lab-on-chip; Biosensors. The definition of convergent technologies, as in the FP7/2007 call is reproduced below.
      • Micro/nano/biotechnologies’ convergence: Converging micro/nano, bio and information technologies for the development and production of integrated systems for specific applications, such as environmental monitoring, agriculture and food quality management, safety, security, biomedical and lifestyle applications. Innovative bioMEMS, biosensors, lab-on-chip microsystems and autonomous implants and bio-robots. Research will also address packaging, multilevel interfacing, manufacturing, as well as ethical and societal issues.
    • An “info” session related to all the topics corresponding to ICT-2007 3.6: Micro/nanosystems.
    • The brokerage part will go in parallel with the poster sessions. A special section will be devoted to posters displaying profiles/offers of cooperation or expressions of interest. Very brief oral presentations will be also delivered.

The participation is free of charge (sponsored by European projects, such as MINOS-EURONET, which is also providing electronic brokerage, see www.minos-euro.net/brokerage).
