This course is situated within the context of emerging micro/nano technologies. Micromechanical components play an increasing role in micro systems. The use of metals, polymers and ceramics for miniature components requires product development methods as well as manufacturing technologies. Product dimension will range from micrometre to millimetre. The attendees will get insights on the complete product development from requirements and technology possibilities to manufacturing and testing, in an industrial perspective. Indeed it is now well known that micro/nanotechnology is not only a matter of downscaling applications and methods.

7. Nano2Life announces science writing competition winners

As part of the drive towards a “knowledge economy”, the European Commission is keen to keep people informed about the latest scientific developments and encourage youngsters to get involved in the subject. A recent competition has given young researchers the opportunity to showcase their ability to write about science and get their ideas across to a non-expert readership. Communicating complex ideas to the layman is an important task for researchers as the wider public is eager to find out more about new technical, medical and biological advances. Unfortunately, their curiosity often remains unsatisfied due to a shortage of suitable publications. [...details]

MINOS-EURONET On-line Brokerage

This web page is devoted to brokerage (facilitating matching of partners). The thematic area is structured by FP7/2007 calls. We are using the so-called "MINOS selection" (taken from NMP, ICT and Health themes). This selection is related to micro/nano/biotechnologies but advanced materials are also included. The MINOS selection from FP7/calls is available here. This includes the on-going calls on micro-nanosystems and photonics.

The brokerage can be "face-to-face" or "on-line" (using Internet).

Extensive on-line brokerage is provided by using databases for partner matching. Directly input of these databases here. These databases contain synthetic profiles of research groups, companies etc. and their expression to interest related to specific topics (calls). An advanced search mechanism gives easy access to all information, but in order to in use it, one has to introduce his/her own profile.

Please see useful information: On-line Brokerage web page [...].
