The objectives of the course are:

• Introduce MST and the key concepts of micro-mechanics, including the use of standard equations to analyse a range of simple mechanical devices and their properties
• Provide awareness of common sensor transduction methods and how to extract signals from MST sensors
• Explain methods to help participants design and analyse MST devices, culminating in a basic grasp of multiphysics design tools and when and how to use them.
• Explain INTEGRAM process flows and design rules to enable students to design with confidence
• Provide familiarity with major CAD tools, including L-Edit for layout and CoventorWare for MEMS design with supporting INTEGRAM-specific modules
• Reinforce learning through practical case studies and worked examples based on simple devices during and after the course
• Support participants to develop their own design ideas

5. 2006 Annual Event in Information Society Technologies IST2006, 21-23 November 2006, Helsinki, Finland (Details...)

The annual event will be organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Finnish Presidency of the European Union.

The two main goals are:
- bring key policy-makers together from across Europe to discuss
a holistic policy approach to European ICT development
- explore how tomorrow's future ICT technological, business and social challenges
will be addressed by FP7, the EU's 7th Framework Programme for Research (2007-2013)

AMICOM the network of excellence on RF MEMS and RF Microsystems is organising in this framework a networking session on
“Radio Frequency Microsystems technology (RF-MST) for smart integrated systems”. (Details...)

This networking session will be devoted to the status and perspectives of the RF-MST/MEMS in Europe. Opportunities for broader and deeper cooperation in the framework of FP7 programmes will also be introduced and open discussions will be encouraged.
